Whether he’s showing off double- and triple-time bounce in the T-Minus-produced “PMW (All I Really Need)” or dodging RZA-styled string chops on “1 Train” alongside a collision of hot rappers including Action Bronson, Big K.R.I.T., andKendrick Lamar, Rocky sounds utterly at home. Even when he stomps through a queasy Odd Future-style battlefield on “Jodye”, he fully owns the mold. That kind of malleability is crucial to pop stardom, and make no mistake, pop stardom is what Rocky’s gunning for. His lyrics, a riot of lifestyle brands and other desirables, can feel like standing in front of a closet of prohibitively expensive designer goods: There isn’t much to feel unless you consider “like three million bucks” a feeling. But besides the Girbaud jeans with hologram straps and reflectors, the Margielas with no laces, the Escada and Balenciaga and Audemars Piguet, there’s a lot going on in Rocky’s head.

The new Kendrick Lamar Album is getting rave reviews from music critics around the world:
The word “classic” will undoubtedly be thrown around in reference to this album. I’d say that’s fair, but it is also premature. Good kid needs some time to gestate before we know where it fits into the fabric of rap. After all, it is not a one punch knockout, like an Illmatic or a Reasonable Doubt. It is a varied and dense listening experience that feels more like an emotional outburst than an assured statement of purpose. For now, it is safe to say that good kid, m.A.A.d city is the most potent exploration yet of one of the most interesting minds in rap music

New York City bans selling large sodas.
About one-third of Americans are obese, and about 10% of US healthcare costs are tied to obesity-related disease, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
I’m okay with this ban. I know it seems like it’s a freedoms issue but come on people. What if it works? What if a ton of people lose weight? Seems like a reasonable experiment. And if you are such a crazy soda fanatic well then just by a dozen regular bottles. I know when I decide to get my drink on I go for a 6 pack. I think this is for the kids though, the ones who have no self control.

I bet this actually happens a lot, and not just in phones or tech. It’s a general marketing scam that so rarely gets caught. Sucks to be Nokia.
Nokia has apologized after it emerged that an advert featuring video footage which appeared to have been filmed with its new flagship smartphone had in fact been created using different equipment.
The Verge tech site revealed the issue after it noticed a window reflection revealed a cameraman holding what appeared to be an SLR camera.

A controversy is brewing over whether the United States should break tradition and dip the American flag at the opening ceremony Friday night for the London Olympics– despite the fact that doing so would violate US Flag Code.
Scott Blackmun, the CEO of the United States Olympic Committee, told Reuters they were discussing the matter internally.
“We have made an official recommendation to the athlete, not to dip the flag,” the spokesperson told Fox News. “We have also spoken to the athlete advisory committee and they are in agreement.”
He said he believes dipping the American flag at Friday¹s ceremony would be un-American.
“There are many patriotic Americans who would say it is a big deal,” Buss told Fox News. “You don’t dip the United States flag to honor other countries.”
Breaking news! It’s almost as big of a story as when Obama bowed in China. Wow.

That James Holmes is insane, few may doubt. Our gun laws are also insane, but many refuse to make the connection. The United States is one of few developed nations that accepts the notion of firearms in public hands. In theory, the citizenry needs to defend itself. Not a single person at the Aurora, Colo., theater shot back, but the theory will still be defended.
I was sitting in a Chicago bar one night with my friend McHugh when a guy from down the street came in and let us see that he was packing heat.
“Why do you need to carry a gun?” McHugh asked him.
“I live in a dangerous neighborhood.”
“It would be safer if you moved.”
Another shocking fact is that Jessica Ghawi, one of the victims, was also nearly a victim at the Toronto shooting a month earlier.
It’s time to redo gun laws in America.
In the two decades since Nielsen Soundscan started to keep track of U.S. album sales in 1991, the company has seen the industry fold in half, digital sales catch up to physical, and vinyl mount a resurgence. But until last week, they’d never seen old records outsell new ones.
The first six months of the year saw sales of 76.6 million catalog records — industry-speak for albums released more than 18 months ago — compared to 73.9 million current albums.

The Galaxy tablet doesn’t infringe Apple’s registered design, Judge Colin Birss said in a ruling today in London. He said that consumers weren’t likely to get the two tablet computers mixed up.
The Galaxy tablets “do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design,” Birss said. “They are not as cool.”
